The aims of the project bwHPC-C5 are the coordination of federated support for users of high performance computing (HPC) in the state of Baden-Württemberg and the implementation of all its related measures and activities.
The project bwHPC-C5 is not an individual initiative, but part of the current implementation concept "bwHPC" for high performance computing in Baden-Württemberg. bwHPC-C5 has been funded by the ministry of science, research and arts of the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany . The Universities of Freiburg, Heidelberg, Hohenheim, Konstanz, Mannheim, Stuttgart, Tübingen and Ulm, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, as well as the Universities of Applied Sciences in Stuttgart and Esslingen participate in the realization of the project.
Project's phase 1 was running for 30 months (01 Jul 2013 until 31 Dec 2015) - phase 2 has been approved by a DFG committee for another 30 month starting from 01 Jan 2016.
